Auto parts, tires, rims, brakes, filters and fluids: what Customs charges on each.
Car parts pay some of the highest duty rates of anything you can order online, so they're worth checking before you buy. Tires are the exception: they pay a lower rate plus a flat environmental levy on each tire, and filters were cut in the 2025 budget.
Parts are often heavy for their size, so freight matters too. Some fluids can count as hazardous goods for the flight, which adds a handling charge, so call us before ordering them.

Questions
- What is the highest duty rate on car parts?
- 60%, on Auto Parts, Rims (mounted on tires) and Rims (only). VAT is then charged on the duty as well as the item.
- Does VAT apply on top of duty?
- Yes. VAT of 10% (5% on listed health and hygiene goods) is charged on the landed cost: the price you paid plus duty, the processing fee, any environmental levy and freight.
- Who decides the final duty?
- Bahamas Customs. It classifies every shipment from the supplier's invoice. These rates are a guide to help you estimate before you buy; when you ship with Mr. Ship It we declare your package and show the charges on your bill.
