Online Shopping From the Family Islands

Living on a Family Island shouldn't mean missing out on online shopping. With a free US address, you can order from any US store and collect your packages close to home, with customs cleared for you in Nassau. Here's how it works, island by island.

Step 1: Choose your pickup location

When you create your free account, choose the store nearest you as your pickup location. Mr. Ship It has its own stores in Exuma and Eleuthera, as well as Nassau. You can change your location any time in My Account, for example if you split your time between islands.

Step 2: Shop with your US address

Use your US address, with your suite number, at checkout on any US store. Packages arrive at our warehouse in Miami Lakes, Florida, and fly to Nassau on our next flight. Upload the invoice in your account as soon as you order: it's what Customs needs, and our invoice guide explains what to upload.

Step 3: Customs and the onward leg

Your package clears customs in Nassau, then continues to your island store. Once a package reaches our Florida warehouse, it's typically ready in the Family Islands within 6 to 8 business days, depending on mailboat schedules, compared with about 5 business days in Nassau. What it costs

Freight, duty and VAT are the same as in Nassau. See the rates and fees, and check the duty on what you're buying in the duty rates. The shipping calculator gives an all-in figure.

Pay before you go

Pay your bill online before you head to the store, so your package is ready to hand over when you arrive. Paying online also earns Shipping Bucks, credit you can put towards future bills.

Tips for Family Island shoppers

• Allow the extra days. Order a little earlier for birthdays, holidays and anything you need by a date.
• Watch the box size. Freight is charged on the box size when it's greater than the weight, so bulky, light items cost more to fly.
• Order big items with care. Furniture and appliances are heavy; check the freight in the calculator first, and see our freight forwarding page for large items.
• Upload your invoice early. A missing invoice is the most common reason a package waits in Nassau.
